Description

In 1908 J. R. Keyes and A. L. Clem opened the Athens Grocery and Bakery company one door down from the First National Bank. In 1921 the paper refers the business as Keyes Kandy Kitchen. In 1918 Keyes Jewelry Store was first advertised. In 1919 the store survived a burglary. After his brother James passed in 1921, A. A. Keyes took over the jewelry business. He sold the business in February 1923 to T. H. Martin.
