Description

This image is a watercolor painting of Rosemount, also known as the Glover Home or the Glover-LeGare Home, in Forkland, Alabama done by Louis Gardner Goldberg in 1938. The painting shows the front exterior of the house with its doors, windows, shutters, columned porch, steps, sloped roof, and 4 chimneys surrounded by trees and landscaping. There is a smaller second story in the middle of the roof with a columned balcony, railings, and a peaked roof. There is a woman in period dress at the top of the steps. The house is placed within framing art showing its architectural features including a floor plan, side and top views of columns, a wooden staircase, a potted plant and a garden trellis with a leafy vine. In the lower right corner, there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp with a handwritten inscription "1st Medal" and the artist's information block which reads: "Measured drawing, Arch 476, Maj 4, Apr. 9, 1938, Louis Gardner Goldberg." The painting is in fair condition with some pieces missing from the edges and is encapsulated.
