The school at Parker’s Crossroads was established in 1907 and occupied the current site of Providence Baptist Church on Lee County Road 166. In August 1928, the school was renamed in honor of CSA General P.G.T. Beauregard. The remodeled school still stands on Alabama Highway 51 approximately seven miles south of Opelika. After sixteen years of delaying with compliance to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education ruling, Beauregard High School finally integrated with nearby Sanford High School. The former black high school now functions as Sanford Junior High School, Beauregard’s community middle school."},{"label":"Creator","value":"Taylor McGaughy"},{"label":"Source","value":"Image Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauregard_High_School\r\n\r\nText Sources: Alexander Nunn, Lee County and Her Forebears (Montgomery, AL: Herff Jones, 1983), 110-111.\r\n\r\nThe Heritage of Lee County Book Committee, The Heritage of Lee County, Alabama (Clanton, AL: Heritage Publishing Consultants, 2000) 37-38."},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Alabama Cultural Resource Survey"},{"label":"Date","value":"2014-11-26"},{"label":"Contributor","value":"Taylor McGaughy"},{"label":"Format","value":"JPEG and Text"},{"label":"Language","value":"English"},{"label":"Type","value":"Still Image and Text"}],"sequences":[{"@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif/26/sequence/normal","@type":"sc:Sequence","label":"Current Page Order","viewingDirection":"left-to-right","viewingHint":"non-paged","canvases":[{"@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif/26/canvas/p1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Beauregard High School.jpg","thumbnail":{"@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif-img/19/full/149%2C200/0/default.jpg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif-img/19","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"width":2240,"height":2998,"images":[{"@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif/26/annotation/p0001-image","@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif-img/19/full/598%2C800/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","width":2240,"height":2998,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif-img/19","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://omeka.lib.auburn.edu/iiif/26/canvas/p1"}]}]}]}
